Soirée Vogue

Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik Toast the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund's Americans in Paris

Paris evenings are the perfect excuse to dress avec elegance. And although cohost Zayn Malik remained haute casual, the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund's Americans in Paris annual cocktail was a moment to shine. Gigi Hadid greeted guests in a Bardot-esque gingham dress and trophy earrings-a trend also seen skimming the shoulders of Hailey Baldwin, who paired her diamanté danglers with an Alexandre Vauthier lightning bolt dress.
Guests gathered in the restaurant 1728, a fitting setting as the former seasonal home to Franco-American historical figure the Marquis de Lafayette. 1728 not only refers to the date it was built but also a veiled reference to architect Antoine Mazin's preoccupation with the mathematical equation for the perfect proportions of the golden ratio: 12 x 12 x 12 = 1728.
This evening had the perfect equation for a chic fete. Diane von Furstenberg chatted to Anja Rubik, while bon mots and bubbles were exchanged between the new CFDA class and designers showing in Paris such as Public School's Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, Christopher Kane, Gabriela Hearst, and Nicholas Kirkwood. Towers of white flowers decorated the already ornate room, and a feast of salmon and caviar was served. An evening that former resident Madame de Pompadour would surely have approved of.
